Lori Siebert, Marrakech, Morocco
30 October – 06 November 2027
I’ve learned that my art doesn’t live in one place … it travels with me.
As a mixed media and travel journal artist, I gather inspiration the way some people collect postcards. I collect patterns, colors, bits of conversation, market textures, architectural lines, café napkin sketches, and the feeling of a place. Every destination becomes part of what I create … and part of what I teach.
My work has always been rooted in experience. When I travel, I’m not just seeing a place … I’m studying its rhythm, its palette, its visual language. Those discoveries find their way into my journals, my layered mixed media pieces, and eventually into the workshops I share with others.
And now, I’m beyond excited for Morocco.
I cannot wait to immerse myself in the intricate patterns, bold colors, tiled courtyards, woven textiles, spice markets, carved doors, and the layered history of the culture. Morocco feels like a living sketchbook … rich with geometry, texture, and story. I already know it will influence not only what I create there, but what I bring home.
Join me for an inspiring week in Marrakech, where we’ll gather in a beautiful villa and turn our travels into art. This 7-day mixed media and travel journaling retreat blends daily studio time with cultural exploration. You’ll have space and materials to experiment, layer, collage, paint, write, and document your experience in a way that feels personal and meaningful.

To Beautiful Locations
Each day we’ll create … loosening up, playing with materials, exploring pattern and composition, and learning how to translate what we see into layered journal pages and mixed media pieces. I’ll share my techniques for incorporating travel inspiration into your art practice…from collecting ephemera to building depth with paint, paper, mark-making, and texture.
Between studio sessions, we’ll explore the magic of Marrakech…markets, gardens, architecture, colors, light … filling our creative wells so they overflow onto our pages.
This retreat is for mixed media artists, journalers, painters, and curious beginners alike. You don’t need to be “an artist”…you just need the desire to see, gather, and create. Non-painting partners are welcome too, with discounted rates.
Because the truth is…inspiration is everywhere. When we learn how to gather it, layer it, and trust it, we can create anywhere in the world. And I cannot wait to do that with you in Morocco.
