21 – 30 June 2027
Join me on this all inclusive 10-day watercolor adventure to some of the most beautiful villages in southern France!
I’m returning to Perigord Retreats in 2027 for my 6th year. What a place! I just have to keep going back, and some of my students too.

To Beautiful Locations
We paint outside – that’s where the magic happens
This is about capturing life as it unfolds. Our focus is plein air watercolor sketching – setting up in enchanting castle towns, along riverbanks, in village squares where locals wave bonjour as you paint.
In an encouraging atmosphere, with plenty of laughter, a glass of wine in hand (if needed!) and the day to day details all taken care of, I promise you’ll leave France with a sketchbook bursting with memories and the confidence to paint anywhere, anytime.
Back at ‘home’ there’s a gorgeous 24/7 studio for demos, skills practise or for when inspiration strikes at midnight.
This retreat is for watercolor enthusiasts of all levels – whether you’re a complete beginner or have experience but want to grow your confidence painting on location.
What makes this retreat special: small groups, big impact
Small group sizes mean I have ample time to help each person every day. You’ll receive:
* Daily one-on-one feedback tailored to your level and goals
* Step-by-step demonstrations showing my process and decisions
* Personal guidance on color, composition, and perspective
* Encouragement to be brave and try things outside your comfort zone
Plus, you’ll be thoroughly looked after by our exceptional hosts, Harrison and Katel. Harrison takes us to the most inspiring locations – places full of history, charm, and breathtaking scenery. Katel prepares meals that are truly memorable, crafted with care and local ingredients.
Beyond Technique
This retreat is about more than just improving your painting skills. There’s a magic combination of shared meals, laughter, and unforgettable moments – whether we’re gathered around the table or enjoying a picnic after a morning of sketching. There’s a special camaraderie that forms here, a sense of connection that makes it feel like friendships will last a lifetime.
Non-painting partners are welcome
There’s plenty to do beyond painting: kayaking, swimming, exploring local markets, visiting caves and castles or simply unwinding with a book in the French countryside.
“I’ve been lucky enough to paint all over the world, capturing memories and notes through hundreds of sketches over the years. Painting outside allows me to make a very strong connection to the places I visit and the people who live there.“
A Day with Us Looks Like This…
Your day begins with a peaceful breakfast of freshly baked French pastries, homemade yoghurt, and seasonal fruit—best enjoyed in the sunlit conservatory as the day gently unfolds.
Around 9 am, we set off—early enough to enjoy our destinations while they’re still quiet, with the morning light casting everything in a perfect glow.
Spend your morning soaking up the atmosphere of a new place: wander through charming side streets, discover hidden corners, or settle into a quiet spot to sketch and take it all in. When you’re ready for lunch, a beautiful spread awaits—think crisp salads, savoury quiches, homemade cookies, and a glass (or two) of wine, served picnic-style in the shade.
Afternoons are for creativity and rest. Back at the studio, you’ll have dedicated time to paint, unwind by the pool, take a nap, read, sunbathe, or simply enjoy good conversation in a quiet corner.
Evenings are a highlight: a delicious, three-course meal made with local ingredients, prepared by Katel—whose cooking alone is worth the trip. With wine flowing and good company around the table, it’s a chance to relax and connect.
After dinner, the time is yours. Watch the sunset, return to the studio for more painting, take a dip in the hot tub, or explore the nearby paths under the stars.
Our retreats are designed to be flexible, inspiring, and restorative—so you can get exactly what you need out of your time with us.
