Come, spend an extraordinary week with me in the heart of Marrakech — a place where color, scent, and sound weave together into something truly magical. This is more than a workshop; it’s an invitation to slow down, to see deeply, and to reconnect with your own creative rhythm.
Over seven inspired days, we’ll wander through Morocco’s most enchanting corners — bustling souks filled with pattern and spice, sunlit courtyards, quiet gardens, and landscapes that seem painted by time. Each moment will offer a chance to observe, to respond, and to record what you see and feel through words, drawings, and watercolor sketches.
We’ll begin by making something deeply personal: your own handcrafted art journal, created with beautiful paste papers and a sturdy, binding. This will become your companion for the week — a space to gather impressions, colors, thoughts, and the quiet details that make up your journey.
Through gentle prompts and guided exercises, you’ll explore new ways of seeing and expressing — finding structure in the swirl of the marketplace, rhythm in the call to prayer, and poetry in the curve of a shadow.
By the end of the week, you’ll leave with a journal that holds not just sketches and words, but memories, laughter, and a renewed sense of creative wonder.
It will be a week of writing, drawing and painting, of shared meals and stories, of connection — to place, to others, and to yourself. A time to be fully present in the beauty of this exceptional city, and to rediscover the artist within.

Create Your Own Art Journal
Begin by crafting a hard-backed journal that will become both your travel companion and your creative home. Using paste paper and marbling techniques, you’ll design a unique cover, reflecting your creative spirit. With a hand-bound journal – you’ll make a book that feels distinctly your own.
Develop a Daily Creative Practice
Each day brings a new place to explore and a new way to see. We’ll venture into Marrakech’s gardens, courtyards, and lively souks, guided by prompts that encourage observation, reflection, and play. Through drawing, watercolor, and writing, you’ll learn to translate experience into image and language, moment by moment.

Potential Itinerary:
Flights – there are direct flights to Marrakesh from Houston, San Francisco, Newark, Atlanta, and Chicago. For our Canadian friends: direct flights are also available from Toronto and Montreal.
Day 1: Arrival at the airport, transfer by private car to the domaine. Settle in, relax and explore the property. Evening meal at the domaine.
Day 2: Guided tour of the Souks in the Medina followed by lunch at a unique venue.
Day 3: Exploring the Atlas mountains with a couple of stops at interesting spots, a picnic lunch and some gardens in the afternoon.
Day 4: Slower, more relaxed day, painting at the domaine, optional trip into Marrakech
Day 5: Visit to the Yves Saint Laurent museum& Jardins Majorelle + tea.
Day 6: Exploring/painting the Koutoubia mosque at sunset as well as exploring the vibrant Jemaa el-fnaa square, rooftop drinks.
Day 7: Second visit to the Souks and a special farewell dinner.
Day 8: Breakfast followed by departure for the airport via private car.
There are equally lots of other activities we can organise depending on your group. More plein air painting, Camel rides, a visit to a Berber village, and other historical and cultural sites to visit in Marrakesh. Pottery or rug making. Each retreat will vary slightly depending on the group and of course there will be plenty of time for painting each day.

Every day you will receive group and one-to-one tuition outside or in the studio in the form of demonstrations and individual feedback.

Fresh baked goods, fresh fruit salads & continental style breakfasts every day. Locally produced, freshly cooked lunches and evening meals. We will visit a couple of restaurants.
