Marrakech, Morocco – 7th – 14th November 2026
I’m teaming up once again with the wonderful team of Katel & Harrison from Perigord Retreats — but this time we’re trading French villages for Marrakech, Morocco!
How will this retreat vary from Gourdon, France? Think of the words exotic luxury: we will have 7 days staying at the domaine of a beautiful olive grove, with views of the Atlas Mountains. The accommodations are exquisite, including daily maid service, 24-hour concierge, beautiful pool and outside grounds and over the top decor.
We welcome brand new to intermediate painters (as well as non-painting partners). Our focus will be on travel, Moroccan color, rest and retreat, painting, coastal beauty and play. Be prepared to sketch or photograph as we go, and get ready to be inspired by the home and garden of Yves Saint Laurent, the color of the medinas, souks, and a plein air day at either the Atlas Mountains or the Sahara Desert.

Our retreat will adapt to painters and non painters alike as we tour the beauty of Morocco along with sketching, photographing or painting as we go. Our laid back studio time will be balanced by plenty of relaxation in the poolside setting. The variety of sights, sounds and spice will be nothing but inspiring as you document your journey, providing plenty of material for art even after you return home.
With a small group, I can offer one on one attention, even as non painters can lounge or explore.
We will experience:

Potential Itinerary:
Flights – there are direct flights to Marrakesh from Houston, San Francisco, Newark, Atlanta, and Chicago. For our Canadian friends: direct flights are also available from Toronto and Montreal.
Day 1: Arrival at the airport, transfer by private car to the domaine. Settle in, relax and explore the property. Lunch (if required) and evening meal at the domaine.
Day 2: Visit to the ‘Jardin Majorelle’ + Yves Saint Laurent museum
Day 3: Full-day trip to Essaouira (coastal town)
Day 4: Rest day, painting at the domaine, optional trip into Marrakesh
Day 5: Visit to la medina in the morning + Visit to la place Jemaa-el-fna in the evening
Day 6: Visit to la Koutoubia
Day 7: Plein air painting the Atlas Mountains or the Sahara Desert
Day 8: Breakfast followed by departure for the airport via private car.
There are equally lots of other activities we can organise depending on your group. More plein air painting, Camel rides, a visit to a Berber village, and other historical and cultural sites to visit in Marrakesh. Pottery or rug making. Atlas valley, ourika valley. Art galleries. Visit to old Jewish quarters.

Tuition
Every day you will receive group and one-to-one tuition outside or in the studio in the form of demonstrations and individual feedback.

Fresh baked goods, fresh fruit salads & continental style breakfasts every day. Locally produced, freshly cooked lunches and evening meals. We will visit a couple of restaurants.
