Abstract Wanderlust: An Intuitive + Abstract Painting Retreat
Ditch perfection. Trust your gut and your hands. Let’s make some art that actually feels like you.
This isn’t your typical painting class. There are no wrong moves here, no paint-by-numbers, and definitely no boring beige canvases. Just you, a lot of colorful paint, and the freedom to create something wild, messy, and completely your own.
What We’ll Do Together:

🖌 Play with expressive mark-making, layering, and texture
🎨 Experiment with my favorite paints, tools, and mixed media goodies
🌈 Learn color mixing, contrast, and composition, then throw caution to the wind
This retreat is for anyone who wants to stop overthinking and start creating. Maybe you’ve never touched a paintbrush. Maybe you’re a seasoned artist who feels stuck in a rut. Either way, you’re welcome here.
We’ll work intuitively, tuning into instinct, emotion, and that little voice that whispers “what if I just tried this?” No formal skills required. No judgment. Just honest, brave, freedom-focused art-making.

Here’s What I Promise:
You’ll get messy. You’ll laugh. You might accidentally create something you didn’t know you had in you. We’ll layer, scrape, cover up, and start again. We’ll talk about contrast in color, in emotion, in life. And somewhere between the chaos and the quiet moments, you’ll reconnect with that part of yourself that just wants to play.
Over several days, you’ll experience the full creative journey: the thrill of a fresh canvas, the
awkward middle (I’ll help you through it), and the satisfaction of finishing something that feels right. Painting across multiple days gives your work and your brain room to breathe. You’ll return each morning with fresh eyes and new ideas.
I’ll give you prompts, techniques, and a few gentle guidelines. Then I’ll invite you to ignore them all if it feels good.

Potential Itinerary:
Flights – there are direct flights to Marrakesh from Houston, San Francisco, Newark, Atlanta, and Chicago. For our Canadian friends: direct flights are also often available from Toronto and Montreal.
Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech and enjoy a private transfer to our villa. Settle in, explore the property, relax, and join the group for our welcome dinner.
Day 2: Guided tour of the Medina, special lunch, visit to a historic palace and ruins, and our first painting session.
Day 3: Full-day excursion to the Atlas Mountains or the desert with time for sketching, photos, and gathering inspiration.
Day 4: Rest day with painting at the villa and an optional trip into Marrakech.
Day 5: Visit the Yves Saint Laurent Museum and Majorelle Gardens, followed by a painting session.
Day 6: Morning painting at the villa, then visit the Koutoubia Mosque and Jemaa el Fna Square.
Day 7: Morning painting, time to explore the souks and shop for souvenirs, followed by our farewell dinner.
Day 8: Breakfast and private transfer to the airport for departure.

Daily trips to tailored locations chosen by the artist and their group. Opportunities to explore, shop, paint plein air or gather inspiration for studio work.
Tuition
Every day you will receive group and one-to-one tuition outside or in the studio in the form of demonstrations and individual feedback.
Food
Fresh baked goods, fresh fruit salads & continental style breakfasts every day. Locally produced, freshly cooked lunches and evening meals. We will visit a couple of restaurants at your own expense.
Accommodation
7 Nights lodging on our luxurious domaine with use of the heated swimming pool as well as access to the olive grove and surrounding property.
